 FAQs

  • The course is for people who have been freelancing actively for at least one year. You should have completed assignments for multiple clients, at least one repeat client, and be looking for ways to up your systems for running your freelance practice. If you haven't already taken the level 1 course, we'll ask you to review the slides for the level 1 course and be familiar with the key concepts. In the level 2 course, we'll be focused on execution of the course strategies and trouble shooting.

  • Please bear with us! We manually review questionnaires and aim to get back to everyone within 2 business days.

  • You will benefit most from attending all five class sessions live. However, we will record all classes, so if you have to miss one for unavoidable reasons, you can catch up with what you missed before the next class. If you anticipate missing more than three classes, you're welcome to purchase drop-in passes at $25 per class, via this link:

  • Absolutely! Everyone is welcome at all our public programs. We believe in building strong networks across lines of identity. If we launch a program that is limited to journalists of color, or another demographic group, we will clearly state that in the materials for the program. That said, we do center structurally marginalized individuals and voices, so please only enroll if you want to be in a community with that priority.

  • We encourage you to only take this course when you can commit 1-2 hours a week to the class meeting, reflection, and thoughtful analysis of your goals and freelance business. Since the IIJ is new, we can’t guarantee that we will offer this course again in this form, at this low price. We do not plan to offer it before fall 2025, but we may not even offer it then, depending on funding. We are a tiny team and have to be strategic with the projects we commit to.

  • Transactions are fully refundable within 3 days of purchase or before Oct. 11, 2024, whichever date is earlier. Refunds must be requested in writing. This policy balances the possibility of plans changing with the reality that when you take a spot, someone else may be blocked from enrolling. Email info@theiij.com with questions or concerns.
